Oligarchy: Rule by a small group. One city-state whose government was an oligarchy was the city-state of Sparta.

Parents-
We are in need of a lot of help in March. The Renaissance Faire is March 27 and we will need about 20+ parents to help that day. We will need help all day long, but would appreciate any amount of help that we can get. We also have our Chivalry Day March 13 and will need about three parents per class that morning for about two hours. Look for more information to come. We appreciate all that you do!
The name of the Greek instrument is a lyre. The letters are alpha, beta, gamma, delta. Socrates was a great teacher that taught his students to think for themselves by asking questions. Aristotle and Plato were philosophers. Pericles was the great leader of Athens during the Golden Age. He helped Athens to build beautiful buildings and to develop a strong navy. He also provided an environment where democracy could develop. Aesop was a great story teller. His short stories that teach mini lessons are called fables. The hill is the Acropolis and the building is the Parthenon. The Parthenon was a temple built to honor the goddess of Athena. Do you remember what Athena was holding in her hand? Do you remember who the famous sculptor was? (The goddess, Nike- Phidias) The three types of Greek architecture are the following: Doric (simple), Ionic (curls), Corinthian (fanciest). The long time enemies of the ancient Greeks were the Persians. The masks were used in the theater. Only the males could perform. They wore masks to show their feelings. One was a comic mask known as comedy and the other was a sorrowful face called tragedy. Know the three types of government. Know that Xerxes (Zerk the Jerk) and King Darius were the Persian King bullies and that the Spartan King Leonides used thinking/strategy to win the battles against the Persians. Thank you for checking the blog. Everything in green will be on your test tomorrow.
