Reading: All students have been assigned a red reading book, Triumphs. All classes, except the Purple Class, will need to take their book home and put it in a safe place to be found when it's needed for homework. Mrs. Vigil's home base, the Purple Class, will keep their books in the desks for all students to use while in class. This is being done to lighten the backpack load. All students have a "Problem Page" due tomorrow (9/1) with their name, book number, and listed damages they discovered. Today, a spelling pretest was given for the words on the blog. Students were assigned to write the words three times, in cursive, NOT including the pretest words. This is to be checked off tomorrow (9/1). The test on these words will be Tuesday, September 6.
Math:We looked for Patterns in the multiplication table and learned how to do factor puzzles.
Homework- pg 7 Practice with factor puzzles, #1-15.
Science:Our first homework assignment in Astronomy! Read the blue paper on Earth and write 2 sentences and ask 1 question. This is due tomorrow -- Thursday.
PARENTS: We talked about the "just right -- Goldilocks" planet today in class. Ask your student which one it is and why.
Social Studies: Students will need some Play-dough tomorrow. The technology note that students received today should be read, discussed with a parent, and signed. They are due tomorrow.
Students received some brief instructions about using Edmodo.com. During the next week, students are to explore the site with the fake student I.D. User: Bran111 Password: elkmeadows Ms. King will explain in depth next week how to use the site for turning in work or writing posts.
They were also introduced to http://edu.glogster.com/ They DO NOT need an account right now to explore the posters and experiment with making one of their own. The assignment to make a glog will NOT be given for another month. Kids should just experiment right now to get the feel of making a glog.
The most important assignments right now are to find the 10 items for their archeological dig and to make sure that they have some play-dough for tomorrow.

Reading: Record your independent reading minutes in your planner.
Math: Worksheet- Remembering 1-1 and Homework 1-1 Due Tomorrow Aug 31st
Language Arts: "Sharp Student": Two wksts. with small picture of student for writing folder. Due: Tuesday, 9/6.
Science: Students will need a shoebox in January.
Soc. Studies: Archeological Dig/Watch third video after clicking the Soc. Studies tab. It's about a 2 min. rap about longitude and latitude.
Today we learned and practiced the definitions for the following:
archeologist artifact geography
We also learned the 7 continents, 5 oceans, and about longitude and latitude.
We integrated some technology and learned how to use the clickers today. It was fun and funny that nearly everyone "failed" the quiz. But as we say in class when someone makes a mistake, "It's cool!"
Students will need some play-dough on Thursday.
Important* Please remember to sign and return the various notes to school. A lot of students forgot to bring the permission note to use the Internet. (green paper)
Back to School Night- Thursday, September 1.
Thank You parents for donating tissues, sanitizer, and other supplies! With so many budget cuts, we really appreciate whatever you can donate.
